Gilbert Raven had a short career within the “world music” side of the Utrecht music industry. He bounced around local labels, but nothing really sold. The records were sent to radio stations and discos, but were quickly forgotten. Raven later spend decades of his life floating around minor cruise ships in the Antilles and the Surinamese Riveria. He worked in catering, but would sometimes invite himself on stage and ask the band to play his old songs. Of course they didn’t know his work, so they mostly improvised around what they thought Gilbert, and that wasn’t always flattering.

40 years after the release of Gilbert’s Pressure single, you and me are both thinking about it. I am writing about it and you are reading about it. I’m listening to it, and probably you are as well. Isn’t it nice? Isn’t it good? This record popped up more than a few times in the seven-year-period since it was added to the Discogs Database, however they all sold quickly. But since 2021, it has sold just a single solitary time.
