Maurizio Cavalieri

S.D.R., Italy 1989

***Thank You!***

Maurizio Cavalieri was probably one of the most prolific italo-journeymen. His discography includes Charlie's "Spacer Woman", Ago's "For You", and all of the I.M.S. and Firefly catalog. Cavalieri was most active from 1980-1989 and even co-produced a techno record in '96. And this is he only solo work. Even more insane is that this record credits fellow italo-legend Sandy Dian as a co-arranger and bass player.

This self-titled 1989 album is a clear departure from his italo years. It is mature and jazzy and very evocative. Songs "Down In Africa", "C'est Comme Ça", "Moonstruck", and "Hi Mr. Dave" are at the heights of late '80s Mediterranean music. I don't know if the term "balearic" really fits, because I think this is something else. Total grail.

Both vinyl and sleeve are conservatively graded as Very Good Plus. Images and audio clips are from the copy for sale.
